A Design Pixie Squarespace template is a complete website, already made, sent to your Squarespace account and ready for you to edit as your own.

When you first open up the template, it will look exactly as shown in the live demo (linked above). Everything you can see in the live demo site will be there for you to use in the template – the fonts, graphics, images, etc. You can use everything as it is, except for the logo. You must upload your own logo file in place of the example logo. You can also change anything that doesn’t suit. You can change the colors, fonts, page titles, headings, text, menu, links, images, remove graphics and the list goes on.

Some parts of the template are made with images created in Canva. You will receive the Canva templates (free Canva account needed) so you can edit any colors or graphics to suit you.

If you already have a domain (eg. www.youraddress.com), you can move it to the new site, when you want the new site to show up at that URL. Your domain can be moved to any website, at any time. Please follow these instructions for how to move your domain to the new site. If you don’t have a domain yet, you can get a free (for the first year) domain at Squarespace if you purchase one of their Annual plans.

To choose a Squarespace template it's important to think of the following:

1. What type of pages do you need? (eg. About, Services, Contact)
2. Which template has the vibe of your business?
3. Which template do you think your content will fit straight into?
4. Which template are you most excited to edit?

Our templates are completely customizable, so if you love a photography-based template but you're not a photographer, you can switch it up to make it work for your business!

If a template doesn't include a gallery page and you need one, you can easily add a new page to your site. Squarespace have designed blocks that you can drop straight into a page.

Unfortunately not! With a new template you are starting fresh. It will be added to your Squarespace account as a new website to work on.

If it has been less than 30 days since you purchased your Squarespace plan on the site you're no longer going to be using, you can contact Squarespace and get a refund so that you can purchase a plan on your new site (just explain to them your situation, they are very helpful!)

You will be doing a lot of copying, pasting and re-uploading!

Unfortunately there's no way of simply migrating products and blog posts across to a new site, you will need to upload your products to the new site and re-publish your blog posts.

I would recommend just going through page by page. Start with the homepage, add your logo to the top and work your way down the page, changing up the text and adding your own photos.

Yes! You can customise all of the template colors with your own colors to make it unique to your branding and business.

You can remove the custom fonts from the template and use the fonts that Squarespace provides.

I don't provide instructions for how to add in your own custom fonts, however there are tutorials available online.

You can! If you see a section on a particular page that you don't need, you can simply delete it. Keep in mind, once something is deleted on Squarespace you can't get it back again.

You can temporarily hide pages by adding them to the "Hidden Pages" section of your navigation menu. If you don't need a blog just yet, simply hide it from showing up in the menu. That way, you can add it back in later.
